CON/SPAN^® Bridge Systems for railway structures offer a number of advantages to the railway designer, including fast installation, heavy load carrying capacity as well as adapting to staged construction methods. The Long Island Railroad utilized a CON/SPAN^® structure to replace an existing railroad bridge over a stream. The new foundations were cast while the existing structure was in place. Then, over a holiday weekend, the existing structure was demolished and the new structure was set in place and rail service was restored by Tuesday morning.
